Apartment Alteration

The design of this particular apartment was done in keeping with the historic details of The Plaza, which was designed in a French Renaissance influenced chateau style.  The Plaza was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.  During interior demolition, we discovered original mosaic floor tiles which were restored and made a feature in our entrance foyer design.  Although the apartment was designed with traditional details, state of the art communication and data wiring was installed throughout the apartment.  Modification of the existing floor-mounted air conditioning air handlers allowed for the capture of additional floor area in almost every room.  Lighting design included traditional fixtures and custom asymmetrical wall washing fixtures used to light full height art featured in the main living and dining space.  Interior finishes included custom wood flooring, marble flooring and full height marble slabs which form the walls of the classically designed Master Bathroom.  The kitchen interior and cabinetry were designed with distressed solid oak and farm-style hardware, a major twist to a superbly traditional apartment design.
