Cosmo Veneziale, is the principal of Cosmo Veneziale, ARCHITECT, P.L.L.C. and is a registered architect in the states of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Mr. Veneziale has been a designer, project architect and associate with several award winning architectural firms. He has received recognition for his design and construction administration of adaptive reuse housing, institutional alterations, interiors, restaurants, luxury apartments and custom houses. Mr. Veneziale’s work has been published in the New York Times, New York Construction News, Crain’s New York, Audio Video Interiors, Metropolitan Home and Architectural Record.

After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Architecture (B.S. Arch ’77) and Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch ’78) from the City College of New York, School of Architecture, Mr. Veneziale joined the firm of Norman Rosenfeld, A.I.A. as an intern Architect. Mr. Veneziale was involved in the design and construction administration of ambulatory and primary healthcare facilities. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Veneziale obtained a position with Nobutaka Ashihara Associates, a Japanese-American architecture and interior design firm, where he was responsible for the prototypical design of Benihana restaurants as well as the interior design of several other restaurants and hotels.

In 1980, Mr. Veneziale joined the firm of David Kenneth Specter and Associates, P.C. to design and administrate residential and institutional projects. In 1982, Mr. Veneziale obtained his license to practice Architecture in New York State. As a result of his influence on the firm’s design, construction details and project delivery methodologies, Mr. Veneziale was named an Associate in 1985. As an Associate for more than ten years, Mr. Veneziale was responsible for the design and construction administration of several major alteration projects such as Harbour Pointe, Staten Island, NY a 131 apartment unit adaptive reuse project, the Alteration of the Greenburgh Hebrew Center, Dobbs Ferry, NY and the alteration / addition of Bet Torah, Mt. Kisco, NY. Mr. Veneziale was the Associate responsible for the design and construction administration of a 10,000 square foot luxury triplex apartment located in the Upper Carnegie Hill District of Manhattan. In addition, Mr. Veneziale has worked and consulted with clients such as Rose Associates, Tishman Realty and Construction Corp., The 92nd Street “Y”, The United States Tennis Association and Consolidated Edison Co. of New York.

In 1996, Mr. Veneziale formed Murno and Veneziale, ARCHITECTS, L.L.P to provide architectural, interior design and construction administration services to a growing number of private and corporate clients. As managing partner of Murno and Veneziale, ARCHITECTS, L.L.P., Mr. Veneziale was the principal in charge of the restoration design of several major New York City landmark buildings including the ABC Armory, Harperley Hall, a 12 story “Arts and Crafts” style apartment building and 168 East 73rd Street, a Neo-Flemish style townhouse. Mr. Veneziale was also the Principal in charge of the adaptive reuse design of the YWCA of Brooklyn, wherein 88 new efficiency apartments were constructed with new building systems totaling 25 million dollars of construction.

In 2009, Cosmo Veneziale, ARCHITECT, P.L.L.C. developed the master plan for the refenestration of The Apthorp, a full block Italianate Palazzo style apartment house in NYC built in 1908. The Master Plan includes over 1600 historically accurate wood windows in accordance with NYC Landmarks Preservation requirements.

Cosmo Veneziale, ARCHITECT, P.L.L.C. are the architects for the total restoration of the McGraw-Hill Building, an office building in NYC, listed on the National Register of Historic Places originally designed by Raymond Hood, one of America’s foremost skyscraper Architects. The 35 story Art Deco style building is undergoing extensive exterior and interior restoration with exquisite attention to detailing of over 3000 new historically accurate windows, terra cotta restoration and full mechanical, electrical and plumbing system design.

Mr. Veneziale, with over 35 years of professional practice has represented private owners, cooperative and condominium Boards in legal proceedings wherein negligence and / or fraud issues were argued. Mr. Veneziale has provided expert witness testimony and is considered an expert in high end residential design.

Mr. Veneziale is a former member of the Board of Directors of the C.C.N.Y. Architecture Alumni Association. Mr. Veneziale was a member of the Garden City Board of Education Ad Hoc Committee responsible for 37 million dollars of school construction alterations. In 2000, as a result of his efforts, Mr. Veneziale was named Garden City Citizen of the Year. Mr. Veneziale was a member of the Mayor’s Committee to Save St. Paul’s School in Garden City, N.Y., a 135,000 S.F. Neo-Gothic structure built in 1883 and is an currently appointed member of the Garden City Architectural Design Review Board and also a member of the Garden City Zoning Review Committee.

Ryoko Matsufuji, AIA, is a registered architect in the state of New York.

Ms. Matsufuji joined Cosmo Veneziale, ARCHITECT, P.L.L.C in 2016 having experience as a designer and project architect with several architectural firms in New York City. 

As a Project Architect, she has been assisting the firm’s principals in all phases of architectural services from programming through construction administration in a wide range of projects, including Landmark Building interior/exterior restoration, office building lobby renovation, outdoor pavilion expansion, and entrance canopy alternation.  

She has a Bachelor of Science in Architecture (B.S. Arch) and a Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) from the City College of New York, School of Architecture, as well as a Bachelor of Education from Nagasaki University in Japan.

Michael Koehler has over thirty years of experience working as a designer, drafter, illustrator, teacher and architectural job captain. He has worked on the east and west coasts on residential, institutional, commercial and historic preservation projects, independently, and with numerous architectural firms.
During and following periods at The Cooper Union and The City College of New York (CCNY), Mr. Koehler worked with architects, engineers, restoration contractors and professional model-makers, developing a wide range of skills, from sophisticated presentation techniques to the special needs of structures in historic and earthquake environments.
Upon earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture and teaching architecture at CCNY and elsewhere, Mr. Koehler continued for ten years as Associate Director of the City College Architectural Center, a community design center developing many projects supported by state and city contracts. This work included the rehabilitation of housing and establishment of a facilities management system for the 19 campuses of the City University of New York.
Mr. Koehler’s experience includes all phases of the architectural process, from programming & schematic design, through detailing & construction documents, and on to construction administration & site inspections. Projects for private and other institutional clients include numerous multiple dwellings & single family homes, and: Digital Computer Stores; Victoria Station & MacDonald Restaurants; and Stanford University Medical Center & Veteran’s Administration Hospitals. Historic sites have included: Richmondtown Restoration, Staten Island; Julia Morgan’s Hatfield House, Berkeley; and the First Battery Armory, the Apthorp Apartments & the McGraw-Hill Building, New York.
The firms Mr. Koehler has worked with include: Perry, Dean, Stahl & Rogers in Boston; Architectural Models Inc., Bond & Brown and Jarvis Architects in San Francisco & Berkeley; Alvin Knoll, Steven Winter Associates, Antonelli Architects, and, Cosmo Veneziale Architect, PLLC, New York, since 2002.
Mr. Koehler’s published work includes illustrations for: John Wiley & Sons, “Simplified Design of HVAC Systems”; the US Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), four volumes of “Energy Guidelines for Rehabilitation”; and City College Architectural Center, two Walking Tour Maps of Harlem. Mr. Koehler’s work has been exhibited at: the City Without Walls Gallery, Newark; the Shepard Hall Gallery at CCNY; and the Proteus Gowanus Gallery, Brooklyn. And his work has been recognized with Historic Preservation Awards by the Berkeley Heritage Association (Morgan’s Hatfield House) and New York Landmarks Conservancy (Hood’s McGraw-Hill Building).

Sungwook Kwon has fourteen years of experience working as a designer and is very proficient in the production of construction documents utilizing AutoCad and 3D modeling programs. Mr. Kwon’s experience in construction administration is equal to his construction documentation skills.

Sungwook Kwon has a Bachelor of Architecture from The City College of New York. In 2005, Mr. Kwon also received a Masters of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University.

Mr. Kwon joined Murno and Veneziale, ARCHITECTS, LLP in 2005 as an Architectural Designer and has been assisting the firm’s project architects and principals on numerous projects. He has been involved with the development of construction documents and construction administration of various large and small projects.

Mr. Kwon has continued with Cosmo Veneziale, ARCHITECT, P.L.L.C. as a project manager / designer involved with high end residential and industrial projects.

Rick Fudge joined Cosmo Veneziale, ARCHITECT, P.L.L.C. in 2012, having previously worked in residential architectural design, museum exhibition design, and sustainability consulting. 

As an architectural designer at CVA, he has assisted with construction documentation and construction administration for a variety of projects, including the historic restoration of the McGraw-Hill Building, as well as residential alterations. 

He has a Master of Architecture (M. Arch ’17) and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture (B.A. ’10) from Columbia University in New  York.

Christopher Gayton joined the firm in 2003 as Office Manager.  Mr. Gayton’s military background has served the firm with great efficiency and purpose.  As part of Mr. Gayton’s responsibilities, he has prepared and processed NYC Department of Buildings filings and NYC Landmark Preservation Commission applications.  In addition to working with the Principal of the firm on all office issues and procedures, Mr. Gayton prepares all invoicing, Principal correspondence, screens all telephonic communications and extends professional courtesy to all of our clients, consultants and guests.  Mr. Gayton’s administrative skills keep Cosmo Veneziale, ARCHITECT, P.L.L.C. moving forward.
