Commercial Renovation

7 West 66th Street was part of the original 1901 Durland’s Riding Academy which was a five-story building used for patrons to lounge and for various club rooms.  The complex which included 24 West 66th Street was considered to be plain since any elaborate decoration was removed soon after Durland retired in 1927.  In the 1960’s, ABC Studios hired Garden State Brickface to apply pink-tinted stucco over the original Roman brick façade.  However, in the 1980’s the stucco deteriorated and was totally removed exposing pockmarked Roman brick caused by the metal lath anchors.  Our restoration of 7 West 66th Street included façade repairs and the installation of new custom designed windows and trim meeting historic replication guidelines.  The building is located in the Upper West Side Central Park West Historic District with all work approved by the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission in 2003.
