The original reinforced concrete sloped entrance canopies were clad with aluminum fascia panels and soffit panels which prevented access of standard emergency vehicles.  Built in 1957 and designed by Sylvan and Robert Bien, Architects, the two sister buildings rise 14 stories each, housing over 600 apartments.  Our design of the new entrance canopies reused the existing concrete sloped sections with the redesign of the vehicular portion of the canopy with an aluminum and glass angled Art Deco style structure.  We created a light filled entrance canopy which allows filtered daylight and LED linear lighting at night. The soft glow of light from the new angled glass canopy creates a new and inviting entrance experience for all building residents and visitors.  Our design allows emergency vehicular access due to the new height of the new entrance canopy sections.  The new sculptural entrance canopies have created a state-of-the-art experience for buildings lacking in distinctive architectural design.
