House Alteration

The existing three (3) bedroom ranch house was altered to accommodate a full second floor including alterations to the existing first floor. Our goal was to achieve an overall house design in context with other two-story houses located in this upscale suburb community.

The existing stair was removed and a new custom stair was designed in the existing stair location to the new second floor bedroom hall. The sprawling Master Bedroom suite included a dressing area, exercise room and den as well as a well-appointed Master Bathroom. The alteration design provided for five bedrooms, three bathrooms, media room and home office. We enclosed the base of the house with river run stone capped with blue stone which supported the clapboard siding. New windows in existing openings and new openings create unifying fenestration for a seamless alteration. The original curved living space façade at the first floor was preserved and remains a sculptural feature of the house. Tailored landscaping of the property provided the final touches to a great remake.
