The sensitive alteration design of this Westhampton Beach house enlarges the existing house to include a second-floor new artist’s studio and exterior roof covered deck.  Our design continued the roof framing to create the structural enlargement and a new roof to match the existing roof.  New fenestration and clapboard wood siding also matched the existing windows and cladding.  The new hip roof design provided a more distinctive profile than the original roof gable end.

The south-facing roof-covered deck, although made smaller by the interior enlargement, has spectacular distant views of Westhampton Beach.  The alteration design is a seamless enlargement of the original house which fulfilled the Owner’s needs and actually improved the overall house design.  This seamless design was approved by the Westhampton Beach Architectural Design Review Board and constructed flawlessly.
